Your home in the heart of the Salzburg Alps
About Skiflat Abercrombie
Skiflat Abercrombie is a privately owned, fully furnished 110 m² top-floor chalet apartment in Flachau, Austria — one of the most popular ski resorts in the Salzburg Alps.
We've designed the apartment with families and groups in mind: three bedrooms sleeping up to 8, a chef-designed kitchen, a ski cellar with boot dryer, and panoramic views of the Dachstein range from the balcony. Everything you need for a perfect alpine holiday is here.
We love Flachau and want our guests to love it too. This page is our personal guide to the area — the restaurants we return to, the slopes we ski, and the things that make this valley so special in every season.

Location & Getting Here
The location of the apartment is fantastic. The piste is only 100 metres away — you can literally put your skis on at the front door, ski all day, and take them off again when you return. Once on the slope, it's a short 250-metre descent to the valley station of the Achterjet ski lift, which takes you high up the mountain.
The apartment is on the Griessenkarweg — the service road for the main ski slopes and mountain huts of Flachau. Everything in town is accessible on foot: the Musistadl restaurant is 5 minutes away, and the main shopping area, supermarkets, information centre, pubs, post office and restaurants are just a 10-minute walk.
By Road
Flachau is 45 minutes from Salzburg along the A10 motorway — the main route from Munich to Italy. Access is never a concern in bad weather. Note: in winter we strongly recommend a snow-worthy vehicle (we use a 4WD) and a full set of snow chains.
By Air
Three international airports serve Flachau: Munich Airport (just over 2 hours), Salzburg Airport (45 minutes) and Klagenfurt Airport (45 minutes in the opposite direction).
By Rail
The nearest rail connections are Bischofshofen (25 minutes away) and Radstadt (15 minutes away).

Practical Information
Supermarkets, Shops, Banks & Doctors
Everything you need to know about day-to-day life in Flachau.
Supermarkets
The nearest supermarket is the SPAR, which has very good quality food and drink as well as all sorts of useful things that you didn't know you needed. There are two other supermarkets in town, Mpreis which you will pass on the way in to Flachau and Wendy which is next to the petrol station on the way to Wagrain.
Please note that some supermarkets close on Sunday, however most of them are open during the season. If you get really stuck, there is a mini SPAR at the petrol station. Credit cards are generally accepted.
Sports Shops
There is an alpine sports shop (Perner) in the town, opposite the SPAR, which has quite a wide selection of outdoor shoes and clothing. There is much more choice in Altenmarkt, which is only a ten-minute drive away. Intersport at the Achter jet is great for ski hire and winter gear.
Banks & Post Office
There is a Raiffeisen Bank with an international ATM, a post office, and a very good information office where visitors can find out what is going on in town. You will find these in the town centre.
The Bakery
If you prefer your bread really fresh, the bakery (just up the high street from the SPAR) is open every day. We tend to use the SPAR for bakery items though, as they are baked in store every day.
Doctors
Flachau has a doctor, and their contact details as well as the medical centre details are in the apartment.
An excellent alternative is the Medical Centre in Altenmarkt, which has a wide range of specialist doctors including paediatric. Website: agzmed.at — telephone: +43 6452 51517700.
More Shopping
For more extensive shopping, Altenmarkt has a wide offering.
St. Johann has the biggest shopping in the area (other than Salzburg) and you will find pretty much everything you might need there.
For more upmarket and traditional shopping, the high street in Werfen is well worth a visit.
